The Department of Plant and Soil Science annually awards over $30,000 of scholarship support to undergraduate students majoring in Horticulture and Turfgrass Science and Environmental Crop and Soil Sciences, and another $30,000 in scholarship support to graduate students pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D.
These scholarships are in addition to any other external Texas Tech University or College scholarship support.Students are awarded on a wide variety of criteria including academic performance, financial need, student involvement and special recognition.
Students are categorized in one of four categories for the scholarship applications; Entering Freshman, Transfer Student, Current Student and Graduate Student.

Entering Freshman
Available at www.applytexas.org , for students entering Texas Tech University with no other college credit or directly out of high school. Current Student
The Current Student Scholarship Application for 2010-2011 will be available on http://www.scholarships.ttu.edu/Howtoapply.aspx in mid-October 2009, please check back for details. This is an internal scholarship application through Texas Tech that you fill out once a year. You do not go to the ApplyTexas website to fill this out.
Graduate Students
Scholarships for graduate students are awarded through the Graduate School and the individual student’s department. http://www.depts.ttu.edu/gradschool/scholarships Please note, deadlines for these scholarships are all different!
If you are interested in a Plant and Soil Science departmental scholarships you can visit http://www.pssc.ttu.edu/Files/sitefiles/pssc%20Scholarship%20App%2009.pdf for the application. The deadline is February 1st, 2010.
As a graduate student you also have the option to apply for external scholarships that are administered outside of Texas Tech University http://www.depts.ttu.edu/gradschool/scholarships/Fellowships.php Please note, deadlines for these scholarships are all different!
